These five CD's are complementary to the ten CD with the Complete Sonatas, released in 2000 by Bart van Oort and four colleagues. Part of the works on these CD’s have never been recorded before, including most of the dances and arrangements, as well as some of the Miscellaneous Klavierstücke.

Deze vijf cd's vullen de tien cd's met alle klaviersonates aan, die in 2000 door Bart vn Oort werd uitgebracht in samenwerking met vier collega's. Een deel van deze zogenaamde 'Klavierstukken' (alle werken voor klavier solo die geen sonates zijn) zijn nooit eerder op cd uitgebracht. Daaronder vallen niet alleen een deel van de dansen en arangementen, maar zelfs korte adagio's, variaties en dergelijke. Het meesterwerk "Die Sieben Letzten Worte" is in de box opgenomen in de schitterende, intieme solo-piano versie.

The brilliance and precociousness of the young Felix Mendelssohn is legendary in the annals of music history. This recording, released in 2009 during the commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth, celebrates his youthful ingenuity by featuring three masterful yet little-known chamber works. Mendelssohn clearly found inspiration in the works of Beethoven and Weber, and his music is a fascinating amalgamation of structural mastery garnered through his rigorous contrapuntal studies, Classical symmetry, and Romantic fire and fantasy. It is very likely that these works would have been performed at the Mendelssohn family’s famous Sunday concerts, which attracted Berlin’s cultural elite.

The Van Swieten Society’s "Beethoven's Beethoven" features two chamber music works by Beethoven in arrangements of the composer himself. Beethoven’s enormous popularity during his early years in Vienna is reflected by the large number of arrangements he made of his own works which were so popular that the public couldn’t get enough of them. This purely practical manner of approaching a score was nothing special for Beethoven and his contemporaries; however, according to Beethoven, this process is best done by the master himself or someone as good as the master because there are important compositional decisions to be made, such as: which parts are integral to the score and which can be omitted, and perhaps most importantly for the piece to be played well, which passages are idiomatic for the new chamber ensemble and which much be reconfigured in order to make them so.
With this CD the Van Swieten Society has made a rare historical instrument recording of these two beautiful but (in this form) relatively little known chamber music masterworks.
