Part of the works on these CD’s have never been recorded before, including most of the dances and arrangements, as well as some of the Miscellaneous Klavierstücke.

Quintone Records, Fall 2009. The brilliance and precociousness of the young Felix Mendelssohn is legendary in the annals of music history. This recording, released in 2009 during the commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth, celebrates his youthful ingenuity by featuring three masterful yet little-known chamber works. Mendelssohn clearly found inspiration in the works of Beethoven and Weber, and his music is a fascinating amalgamation of structural mastery garnered through his rigorous contrapuntal studies, Classical symmetry, and Romantic fire and fantasy. It is very likely that these works would have been performed at the Mendelssohn family’s famous Sunday concerts, which attracted Berlin’s cultural elite.
